Did you know Monet painted the same subject over 40 times, making each one look different? Play with digital interactives in an exhibition of his work to discover his process. Experiment with his technique as you work on many versions of a scene you choose. How will each of your paintings be different? Look to Monet’s river scenes and the paintings and drawings of Pittsburgh’s rivers in CMOA’s collection for inspiration.

Gain insight into your work and the work of your peers through group critique. The museum’s collection and an exhibition on view of painter Ruth Root’s work offer inspiration. This workshop meets on Carnegie Mellon’s campus. Student will make regular walking trips to CMOA.

Calling all wiggle worms! Join us at the museum for a wiggle-and-squiggle-filled art-making week! How many different marks can you make by moving your hand and arm in different ways? How else can you move paint around on paper if you don’t use your hands or a brush? Use movement as inspiration for mark-making using pencils, pastels, and paint. Wiggle (and squiggle) your way through the galleries to find ideas for your experiments.
